The Ranch Private is a way for guest to enjoy a more customized experience for guests who may not want the fully communal aspects of our traditional program. You may want a private hike, classes or meals, or may prefer to experience a different schedule to our main cohort of guests.

Malibu enjoys a temperate, moderate climate. From fall through early spring, daytime temperatures range from the mid-40s to mid-70s, with nights dipping into the 40s. Summer and early fall see highs in the 90s and warmer evenings in the 60s.

Hudson Valley has four distinct seasons. Spring is mild (40s–60s), while summers reach into the 80s. Fall features crisp weather and vibrant foliage, and winters can be chilly, ranging from the low 20s to mid-30s. Hikes proceed in rain or snow as long as conditions are safe. Otherwise, the experience moves indoors with alternative fitness options like spin and yoga.

Guests can choose between daily two or four-hour hikes each day, with modifications available to suit any fitness level. Trails vary from shaded single-tracks to open, wider trails. These mountain routes include uphills, downhills, and flat sections, featuring 1,500–2,400 feet of elevation gain and brief climbs reaching an 18% grade.

In Hudson Valley, guests have the opportunity to explore nearly 45,000 acres of hiking in the area. Set between multiple state parks, with one just steps from the property, the area offers many well-maintained and marked paths with varying difficulty levels and some rocky terrain.

While all meals, accommodations, and fitness programming are included in our rate, we do offer elective treatments and services in Malibu and Hudson Valley such as IV therapy, colon hydrotherapy, energy healing, chiropractic sessions, and facials. These additional services are designed to maximize results and/or enhance recovery time.

Both our Malibu and Hudson Valley locations feature a structured schedule of daily hiking, strength training, yoga and massage, with the main difference being the length of stay.

The Ranch Malibu offers stays starting at a six nights, with three and four-night retreats offered during select times of the year. The Ranch Hudson Valley offers three and four-night retreats year-round.

Both locations also offer a more personalized option with The Ranch Private experience. This is ideal for those who wish to completely customize their stay with as much or as little interaction with other guests as desired.

Yes. Our structured retreats vary in length depending on the location and the specific experience you choose:

  • The Ranch Malibu offers a six night (Sunday through Saturday) stay. This week-long immersion is the gold standard for achieving the significant, long-term results that The Ranch is known for.
  • The Ranch Hudson Valley offers a three-night (Thursday through Sunday) or four-night (Monday through Thursday retreat. This is ideal for those seeking an intentional reset.

Our retreats are designed to be done as a group experience, with the core retreat programming beginning and ending on set days. In Malibu, we welcome arrivals on Saturday and Sunday for weeklong stays, and Sunday and Thursday for shorter stays, when available. In Hudson Valley, we welcome arrivals on Sunday, Monday and Thursday. At both locations, guests are welcome to arrive early or extend their retreat into a multi-week experience pending availability.

Yes, guests are welcome to book additional nights prior to the beginning of their retreat to get a jumpstart on their experience. These overnight stays include check-in at noon, elective wellness programming, meals, and a weekend massage. Many guests choose to extend their stay across multiple programs or weeks for a more immersive, transformational experience.

We serve a plant-based, organic menu free of gluten, soy, dairy, alcohol, and processed sugars. Our executive chefs use seasonal ingredients to create gourmet, nutrient-dense meals to fuel peak performance.

Recognizing the widespread love for coffee and its associated health benefits, we offer a low-acidic, light-roast blend, along with a selection of caffeinated and decaffeinated teas. To facilitate a true holistic detox, we ask guests to abstain from alcohol during the retreat to allow for better sleep, more consistent energy levels, and a more profound connection to the body’s natural rhythms.

Our retreats accommodate a wide range of fitness levels, allowing guests to participate at their own pace. Prior to your visit, you will receive a health questionnaire; our trained fitness staff will review it and follow up with a brief consultation if needed. We also send our 30-Day Pre-Arrival Program to each guest to help them prepare for their visit.

To ease the detoxification process, we recommend abstaining from alcohol, tobacco, artificial sweeteners, and excessive sugar or dairy in the weeks leading up to your visit.

On select weeks throughout the year, we partner with leaders in longevity, fitness, and holistic health. During these weeks, the guest expert joins the group for experiences like hikes and meals, or by hosting exclusive evening workshops or classes that are not available during standard retreat weeks.

The Ranch Malibu rate includes private accommodations for each guest, all meals and snacks, daily laundry service, daily guided hikes, a massage for each full day of your stay, low impact strength training/core-focused fitness classes, and restorative yoga or meditation. We also provide Bod Pod testing to all participating guests, along with an afternoon cooking demonstration and elective evening nutrition talks.

You will stay in your own private guest cottage, beautifully decorated with reclaimed wood floors, limestone bathrooms, linen-covered queen or king-size beds, air conditioning, and premium amenities including wi-fi service. Rooms with two queen beds are also available.

Yes. Guests of The Ranch Malibu enjoy complimentary, daily personal laundry service for the duration of their stay. Simply leave your activewear in the hamper, and it will be washed, folded, and returned to your room daily.

Guests should plan their own transportation to The Ranch Malibu on the day of their arrival. At the conclusion of the retreat, we offer return transportation to LAX. The shuttle departs at 10:00 am, arriving at LAX by 11:30 am. If you plan to use our shuttle service, we recommend booking a flight that departs at 1:00 pm or later.

The Ranch Hudson Valley is conveniently located in the Lower Hudson Valley, less than an hour from New York City.

Our 26 beautifully appointed private rooms offer guests the choice of lake, courtyard, or forest views, along with the option for double occupancy rooms with two queen beds or a shared king bed as desired. To ensure your preferred dates, we recommend reaching out approximately six to nine months in advance. Full buyouts require significant coordination to ensure the property is cleared of all other reservations.

Exclusive property buyouts at The Ranch Malibu and The Ranch Hudson Valley may be booked for groups as small as 15 guests, subject to availability. This includes a full takeover of the property, grounds, and staff.

Traditionally, retreats at The Ranch Malibu are booked for Sunday–Saturday, while retreats at The Ranch Hudson Valley are booked for Sunday–Thursday or Thursday–Sunday. However, full-group buyouts can take advantage of greater flexibility for shorter or non-traditional stay patterns, based on availability.

Yes. While standard guests follow our rigorous “no option” daily schedule, private groups enjoy the flexibility to adjust the retreat as desired. You can shorten the daily hikes, swap out fitness classes, customize culinary offerings, or add in dedicated blocks of time for meetings, presentations, or team-building activities.

As much or as little as you like. The Ranch Private offers guests the option to join the larger group for fitness classes or communal meals, or opt to have all meals and workouts in complete privacy.

The Ranch Private is specifically designed for individuals, couples, or small groups of up to four guests traveling together. For groups larger than four, we recommend exploring our Private Group or Full Buyout options.

While the pillars of The Ranch—movement, nutrition, rest, community, and time in nature—remain the same, our special retreat programs make use of afternoon free time or evening elective slots for specialized workshops, somatic movement sessions, or deep-dive Q&As with our guest speakers.

Unless specified as an “Advanced” or “Athletic” intensive, our special programs are designed to be as inclusive as our core retreat experience. Our hiking guides offer multiple trail options to ensure every guest is able to participate at an intensity appropriate to their fitness level.
