Garden

Malibu's Regenerative Organic Certified® Garden

It starts with the soil

Spanning more than five acres in Malibu, the inspiration and foundation of every meal stems from the use of fresh, organic ingredients harvested daily from our on-site Regenerative Organic Certified® Garden. Regenerative farming nurtures and enhances soil health to both improve the quality of the harvest and benefit the surrounding ecosystem. In order to receive this prestigious honor, The Ranch farm did extensive soil testing and a complete audit of its practices to ensure we meet or exceed the rigorous standards set by the Regenerative Organic Alliance.

To contribute to the development of our rich soil, The Ranch’s farm utilizes a variety of agricultural techniques. This includes cover cropping, crop rotation, low- or no-till soil cultivation, composting, zero use of chemical pesticides and fertilizers, development of a pollinator habitat and the addition of perennials and vegetative barriers. Through these practices we are able to grow the cleanest, most nutritious and flavorful ingredients for our guests to enjoy all while preserving, enhancing, and regenerating the land.

When the sun is shining (as it often is in Malibu), guests can enjoy their meals in the garden, with views of the surrounding mountains. Guests are also encouraged to tour our garden during their stay to learn the art of cultivating organically grown produce and enjoy a few tasty samples along the way.

A Harvest in Harmony

Building a year-round bounty

Our Executive Chef and Master Gardener collaborate on seasonal menus by orchestrating harvests throughout the year to ensure ingredients are sent to the kitchen at their peak, providing guests with the freshest, most flavorful dining experience. This also ensures the nutritional value of each fruit, vegetable and herb is at its best to reap maximum benefits of these powerful plants.

Sustainability at the Start

Ongoing efforts to reduce our carbon footprint

We are committed to creating a better planet with every-day efforts at The Ranch. Our team is dedicated to ongoing reviews and exploration of new methods to improve our sustainability practices. Whether it’s reusing 100% of our grey water, removing litter and maintaining our local trails, or developing healthy soil in the garden, The Ranch will continue to play our part to help the planet and educate guests on how they can practice sustainability at home.

Our Hardest Workers

Creating symbiotic relationships for our animals and ecosystem to thrive.

Our animals play a crucial part in cultivating the garden. From pollinating our plants to pest control to mental health support for the team and guests, our four and two-legged friends also assist with waste management. They enjoy nibbling on scraps from the garden while the rest gets added to composting tumblers and our worm beds to achieve a closed loop system.

bees

Bee Colonies

Our on-site bee colonies produce over 500lbs of honey each year. Not only are bees essential to our ecosystem, the locally sourced honey they make can help alleviate inflammation and ease symptoms of seasonal allergies!

Nigerian Dwarf Goats

Our famous Ranch goats are the highlight of the garden tour. In addition to helping create a closed system, we encourage our guests to interact with them throughout the week for an additional dose of healing energy.
