The Connection Between Regulation & Rest: 5 of Our Favorite Rituals
The wellness conversation has shifted from optimization to regulation. Sauna rituals, cold plunges, breathwork, and somatic therapies have become increasingly associated with practices that support deeper sleep, emotional balance, and a greater sense of calm in an overstimulated world.
Contrast Therapy
At the intersection of recovery and ritual, contrast therapy has become one of wellness’ most widely embraced practices for slowing the body down and resetting the nervous system. Moving between heat and cold is increasingly linked to deeper sleep, improved circulation, reduced stress, and a greater sense of mental clarity and calm.
Breathwork
Intentional breathing practices have become one of wellness’ most embraced tools for slowing down the nervous system, supporting mental clarity, emotional balance, and a greater sense of calm throughout the day. At The Ranch Malibu, wellness practitioner Rob Nicholas incorporates breathwork and cold exposure techniques designed to support resilience, recovery, and nervous system regulation.
Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy has quietly entered the wellness space as a more restorative approach to calming mental noise, shifting habitual thought patterns, and creating space for deeper rest and regulation. Through a subconscious-focused approach, hypnotherapist Anthony Holdampf at The Ranch Hudson Valley works with guests to support emotional resilience, stress reduction, and lasting behavioral change.
Somatic Healing
Somatic therapies focus on the connection between the body and emotional stress, helping release stored tension through breath, movement, touch, and nervous system awareness. Drawing from somatic practices, aromatherapy, and intuitive touch therapy, Jessy Raspiller’s Aroma Fusion sessions at The Ranch Malibu are designed to support grounding, restoration, and reconnection to the body’s natural rhythms.
Energy Therapy
Energy healing practices are increasingly being explored as supportive tools for emotional balance, relaxation, and nervous system regulation. At The Ranch Malibu, Rebekha Wolf blends breath awareness, sound healing, and intuitive bodywork through her Quantum Bodywork sessions, creating space for guests to unwind physically, emotionally, and energetically.

Zero-Proof Penicillin
As conversations around sleep, nervous system regulation, and mindful drinking continue to evolve, spirit-free cocktails have become less about restriction and more about ritual. Adaptogenic ingredients, botanical teas, citrus, ginger, and herbs are increasingly being embraced for the way they support slower evenings, deeper rest, and a more grounded sense of balance without sacrificing the experience of gathering, unwinding, or enjoying something beautifully made.
Inspired by the original Penicillin cocktail, known for its soothing combination of citrus, ginger, and honey, this zero-proof take delivers a bright, grounding blend designed for slower summer evenings and moments of reset by the pool.
Serves 2
- 2 oz fresh lemon juice
- 2 oz fresh tangerine juice
- 12 oz double-brewed vanilla rooibos tea
- 1 tbsp raw organic honey
- 1 knob fresh ginger, peeled (about 16g)
Blend all ingredients until smooth, then strain and serve over ice. Garnish with fresh ginger slice and lemon peel
Bright, grounding, and quietly restorative, our Zero-Proof Penicillin is a wellness-forward take on the modern classic cocktail. Fresh lemon and tangerine juice are blended with double-brewed vanilla rooibos tea, raw honey, and fresh ginger for a drink that feels both energizing and comforting.
